Dear Visitor,
My name is Kata Vékony, I’m a PhD student at the Department of Ethology (Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary). This website is part of my PhD research on the social dynamics of co-habiting family dogs and its associations with different factors and personality traits.
On the website, you can find a survey, designed for owners of multiple dogs. There are questions about certain traits of the dogs, the dog-owner relationship and the relationship between the two (or more) dogs. The last section of the questionnaire is the Dog Big Five, a widely used and validated personality questionnaire for dogs. As a small token for your valuable participation in our research, you can see the the illustrated results of your dog and the descriptions in the “Results” menu any time after completing the questionnaire, as well as the mean results of all the participants.
When you first start the questionnaire, you will receive a unique ID, with which we can sort dogs from the same household together anonymously (meaning: your identity will not be connected to the collected data). Please save this ID somewhere safe. This ID will also let you see your dogs’ personality test results anytime in the future. If you don’t have the time to fill out the questionnaire for all your dogs at once, you can come back later to “Fill out for another dog” with your ID.
The research in not only based on the results of the questionnaire, we also investigate social dynamics of co-habiting dogs with the help of behaviour tests. If you reside in Hungary and you would like to take part in the tests, please enter your e-mail address on the last page of the questionnaire and add a comment that you would like to participate.
We’ll do our best to update the website with summaries of the results during the research.
If you have any questions about the research, you can contact us on the Contact page.
Thank you for your participation!
